Fortner Engineering and Manufacturing, Inc. (Fortner) was originally organized
in 1952 and incorporated in 1955. At that time, Fortner operated as a manufacturing
concern with a focus on producing aircraft parts for local companies such as
McDonnell-Douglas and Rocketdyne. Fortner's entrance into the aircraft maintenance
arena was facilitated by McDonnell-Douglas' interest in Fortner becoming a source
of repair and overhaul services to support McDonnell-Douglas manufactured aircraft.
In 1969, Fortner applied for and received its authorization to operate as an
FAA Repair Station.
In the ensuing years, Fortner became an industry leader in the repair/overhaul
of Hydraulic Valve & Cylinder Assemblies, Actuators and Control Valves.
In 1980, Fortner received SFAR-36 approval from the FAA. This authorization
is the foundation for the Fortner Engineering Standards Manual (FES81). This
manual, approved by the FAA and incorporated into Fortner's FAA "Op Specs",
supports Fortner's ability to establish and use technical data to affect major
repairs that are not documented in the OEM's Component Maintenance Manuals (CMM's).
Over the years, Fortner has performed thousands of repairs utilizing these industry-recognized
procedures.
Today, these repairs are approved under the authority of Fortner's in-house
FAA-DER.
As Fortner Engineering enters its second 50-year term in the aircraft maintenance
business, we anticipate further controlled growth and success. To our valued
customers, we thank you for your continuing support.
